Making habits
What are habits?
Something that a person does often in a regular and repeated way. They are a task that we do that can be implemented into our daily routines.
What is the difference between habits and routines?
A routine is something that we do every day in a certain order. A habit is something we do typically without thinking about it. Having a routine made up of all your habits will make it easier for you to stick to the habits.
How to break bad habits
When starting healthy new habits, you must try to get rid of the old ones. To do this you want to start small so if you need to replace binge-watching with 10 minutes of cleaning and after your ten minutes reward yourself with watching one episode of the show. You also must change your mindset. Telling yourself you can do something will help. Find things that motivate you whether it’s a podcast, buying something that is going to help get your habits done, you can get motivational quotes sent to your phone or follow people on social media that inspire you and that are doing the things you want to do.
How to set new habits
Setting new habits can be hard. It can take up to 19 days to 6months to get a new habit to stick. In an earlier blog post, I talked about making a routine, well these habits are going to be part of what makes up your routines. Say you want to drink more water, eat healthier, start meditating, journaling, or reading. You’re going to want to make a list of the habits you want to start. You need to pick the top 2 that are most important to you. Now you’re going to add those to your routine whether you do it in the morning, afternoon, or night schedule a time to do it. You can track your progress in your planner by making a habit tracker, you can also use notion if your digital or download a habit tracking app. If you need to you can set alarms to remind you to do these habits.
